About the organizers

Outersonics was created by NYC based sound artists Octonomy & Sync Sapro in 2023. The event series was born out of a desire to create an intentional, quadraphonic live sound experience highlighting female sound artists working on the outer fringes of experimental music with an emphasis on those from-nontraditional backgrounds. Together they have been carving out a ritualistic, focused series that represents their shared devotion to the power of immersive, deeply rooted collective sonic experiences. The series has been hosted at Stone Circle Theatre in Ridgewood, Queens since its inception.

Heidi Lorenz Wettach (b. 1989) is a Brooklyn-based electronic musician, sound artist, performer, composer
and audio engineer. As a sound artist, she performs under the name Octonomy and operates
outside of genre signiers but is underpinned by her propensity towards the drone and distorted,
corrosive sustained soundscapes. She primarily makes work with synthesizers, field recordings,
voice, found sounds and amplied non-musical appliances.
She holds an MFA in Performance and Interactive Media Arts from Brooklyn College. Her thesis work, titled Atavistic Echoes, focused on multichannel composition.

SYNC SAPRO (B. 1988) is a NYC sound & video artist plumbing the depths of expansive, heavy drone, abstract post-industrial textures, the outer fringes of the sonic frequency range, and the psycho-physiological effects of aural phenomenon. With a penchant for the elemental, mutated, and surreal, she is perpetually refining her relationship to sound as a vehicle for accessing catharsis and transcendence. She recently started her own label and multi-media imprint called Spectral Affect focusing on experimental sound, writing, visual art & ideas from an outsider femme perspective. Website: syncsapro.com
